Nonbenzodiazepine
Nonbenzodiazepines are a class of drugs with effects and risks similar to benzodiazepines, but with no structural relativity at the chemical level. They are legal to possess with a prescription in the United States and are usually prescribed for short periods for insomnia. Discussion of these drugs, sometimes referred to as "z-drugs", is permitted on the 420chan board /benz/.
[edit] Common nonbenzodiazepines
- Zolpidem (Ambien)
- Eszopiclone (Lunesta)
- Zopiclone (Imovane)
- Zaleplon (Sonata)
[edit] Effects
Positive
- Drowsiness and a "drunken" feeling, similar to benzos
- Visual hallucinations
- Vivid dreams
- Very deep sleep (think date rape).
Negative
- Disturbed sleep
- Unexpected anal rape
- Dependency with continued use, again similar to benzos
- Bitter taste in the mouth
- Hangover like feeling
In recreational doses of z-drugs, visual hallucinations are commonly reported. However, due to the amnesia usually experienced after consuming z-drugs, the fun of the trip is often lost. Due to the powerful sedative properties of the drug, staying awake to feel the fun of the drug is also difficult. If managed, bizarre or even aggressive behavior is possible. This odd behavior maybe also be lost with amnesia. A sitter might be a good idea for high recreational doses, because of said behavior.
