Mescaline
Mescaline, or 3,4,5-trimethoxy-phenethylamine, is a psychedelic phenethylamine found in some cacti, such as peyote and San Pedro cactus. Mescaline makes the user feel like they are in a dream, brought on by the powerful yet gentle euphoria. It was used by native Americans in religious ceremonies before being popularized in the 60s as a recreational drug. People like Aldous Huxley and Alexander Shulgin experimented with Mescaline before acid was available. It's usually ingested by cactophagy (eating a cactus), as it is very rare to obtain pure mescaline or a salt of mescaline. 2c-x is often sold as mescaline. Mescaline has fallen out of flavor since the 60s as other drugs more potent by weight and thus more profitable to synthesize have become available.
