Dextroamphetamine is a psychostimulant drug known to produce increased wakefulness and focus, euphoria, decrease in fatigue, and decreased appetite. It is one of the oldest stimulant medications around and is sold under many brand names such as Dexedrine, Dextrostat and Stild.
It is a potent CNS stimulant similar to Adderall (Adderall is 72% dextroamphetamine) and methylphenidate. Enantiomerically pure Dextroamphetamine is more potent than racemic amphetamine and has stimulant properties similar to racemic methamphetamine, though less potent and neurotoxic. Another brand, Vyvanse, contains the related drug lisdexamphetamine, which gives different effects because the attached lysine group gives it a prodrug effect. This makes it harder to abuse and gives the drug extended release effects. The only reasonable ROA for vyvanse is oral, because the added lysine prevents you from doing any other ROA than oral. Even if you IV'ed vyvanse there would be no difference from oral.
 Dosages and Formulations
Instant Release: 5 mg & 10 mg strengths (Brand names: Dexedrine or Dextrostat) Extended Release: 5 mg, 10 mg, & 15 mg strengths (Brand names: Dexedrine SR or Dexedrine Spansule)
 Mechanism of Action
Dextroamphetamine is the dextrorotatory, or "right-handed", isomer of the amphetamine molecule that is largely responsible for most of the beneficial and recreational effects. The amphetamine molecule itself is distantly related to adrenaline.
In general, acidic food and drinks reduce the effectiveness of amphetamines, while alkaline food and drink heighten the bio-availability of the drug. Taking over the counter antacids such as Mylanta 30 minutes before dropping can increase the absorption of the drug. Some users report being able to prolong feelings of euphoria by ingesting caffeine pills, however great care should be taken in doing so as too much caffeine can lead to tachycardia and anxiety, putting an increased strain on your already galloping heart.
 Routes of Administration
Dextroamphetamine can be administered to the body in a myriad of ways.
Instant release pills are usually swallowed with a come-on usually between 30 minutes to one hour.
Dexamphetamine can be snorted if crushed sufficiently, however extended release capsules will need to be converted to instant in order for this to be effective (the guide on converting Methylphenidate involves exactly the same steps). Smaller dosages of 5mg are impractical to snort, as they contain only a pinhead of actual amphetamine; the rest is binders and other garbage encompassing the pill. It will work, but you'll have to snort over 30 lines of bitter powder (it's amazing how much powder can be released from a tiny, highly pressed pill) to get the same effect as swallowing two pills and your nose will hate you.
Due to the high bioavailability involved with insufflation and the sensitive, blood-rich capillaries of the sinus, snorting the drug gives a much quicker onset, however the duration of effects is much shorter - nowhere near the 8 hours that can be got from oral doses. Surprisingly, almost half the amount of dexamphetamine taken by mouth is excreted by the kidneys when swallowed under normal situations, though this can be reduced and the potency increased by taking various foods (See above).
Plugging is also viable alternative between the two but predictably, it is seldom used, due to inconvenience of preparing the dose and the stigma involved.
 Intravenous Injection
For the expert level user, the instant release preparation of Dexedrine can be intravenously injected with great results. injecting a pill obviously can do some damage, but the payoff is much more rewarding than any other route of administration. The initial euphoric rush and stimulating effects are almost identical to that of IV crystal meth, but the duration of the high is only half as long.
Caution: If you're even considering this, it's assumed you have some idea what you're doing. Don't fuck around with this - read or watch a few guides before attempting this, or even better, get another veteran user to show you how. And for fuck's sake, don't share needles, you dumb bastard.
AssTurtle's IV Dexedrine/Adderall Guide
- This guide was made for Barr Dexedrine IR and Adderall IR tablets. The process isn't much different than preparing opiates or street amphetamine for injection.
- Crush your pill into a fine powder. The easiest way to crush the tablets is to use a screwdriver and a shot glass like a mortar and pestle. 10mg (of Dex or Addy) is a nice IV dose for a beginner.
- Use your rig to draw 100 units (1cc) of hot water per tablet. Mix the powder and water in a shot glass, spoon, medicine cup, or something similar.
- The next few steps are very important, if you don't filter every time you inject, you're SERIOUSLY damaging venous/arterial tissue and heart valves. Take a piece of a cotton ball about half the size of your pinky nail and drop it in the mixture.
- Stick the needle in the cotton ball. Suck up as much fluid as possible, and squirt it in another medicine cup. If you mixed 100 units of water, you should be able to draw up at least 80-90 units of liquid in the first filter, and the same amount in the next two passes.
- When you've filtered it two to three times through cotton, it's ready to enter your veins. Almost all of the particles should be filtered out if you did everything right. Higher gauge needles are better for filtering than lower gauge. The final solution should have a faint color of the pill and be translucent. If it's milky or cloudy you fucked up filtering and can't inject it safely.
- Stick the needle in the solution and suck it up. Try to use a different needle for filtering and injecting, the filtering process can make high-gauge (29-31g) insulin needles blunt.
- Use an alcohol prep pad on the desired injection site, stick the pin in, pull back until you see blood rush in the barrel, then shoot it. You can feel the effects about 15-20 seconds after the injection, usually starting with an increased heart rate a few seconds before the euphoric rush sets in. The stimulating effects should last about 3 hours before you notice a comedown. The rush and stimulation feel almost identical to IV methamphetamine, but shorter lasting.
- I only have experience with prepping Barr generic 10mg dextroamphetamine tablets and Barr 10mg generic Adderall IR tablets. Do not attempt to inject Dexedrine Spansules or Adderall XR- only use the instant release formulations of both. Extended release capsules have too much shit in them to prep safely.
- If I'm injecting more than one pill, I inject using a 3cc barrel with a 22g or 25g 1/2 inch needle. Typical insulin syringes only hold 1cc, so if you're injecting multiple pills at once you should probably invest in some larger syringe barrels because making multiple shots isn't as fun as one fat shot.
- Shooting pills is dangerous, even when filtered, so don't do this often. It would actually be better if you don't do it at all, but you will anyways. Use some common sense when injecting. Don't use the same needle more than once, and don't fucking share syringes. After shooting, put your used rig in a sharps box (or a soda can) for proper disposal.

 Intramuscular/Subcutaneous Injection
Subcutaneous and intramuscular injections of Dexedrine have a nice rush also. The rush is stronger than snorting, but it burns like a cocksucker for about 15 minutes. If you're scared about putting pill binders in your vascular system or sticking things up your ass, IM or SubQ injections should be a viable alternative. The effects of an IM or SubQ kick in at around 10 minutes, and are quite strong compared to an oral or snorted dose. You need to have a larger rig for IM use, insulin syringes won't work- the needle should be at least 3/4 of an inch long or it won't pierce the muscle tissue. The best location for an IM shot is in the thigh muscle under the asscheek- the muscle in your thigh absorbs drugs faster than your upper arm.'(See intravenous injection section above for prepping guide)
 Tips For a Smoother Comedown
The comedown from any amphetamine high can be rough. Some of the physical side effects make it almost impossible to rest for many hours after the psychological stimulation and euphoria wear off. Try to have a few pills of your favorite benzodiazpine for when you start to crash. Ativan is the best choice for a stimulant comedown- it's faster acting, less intoxicating, and more sedating than Klonopin, Xanax, and Valium. 2mg to 3mg of Ativan is enough to chill out and sleep after a hard tweak. Beta-blockers such as propranolol (Inderal) and metoprolol (Toprol) are also nice to have for a comedown, they lower blood pressure and heart rate, both of which remain fairly high after the psychological effects fade away. Beta-blockers can also be taken while tweaking if you're sensitive to the cardiovascular side effects. If you don't have any benzos and are looking for an over-the-counter approach to stimulant comedown, melatonin and Valerian root are a nice combo. Avoid Benedryl and OTC sleeping pills containing diphenhydramine, antihistamines increase heart rate and blood pressure.
If you're looking to improve the comedown but don't intend to sleep, Tyrosine or Phenylalanine in high concentrations will help restore presynaptic levels of dopamine and norepinephrine. Though there will be no sedative or intoxicating effect, these amino acids can cushion the otherwise sharp decrease in effect, especially psychologically. Tyrosine supplements are available at GNC and similar health stores, and both amino acids constitute a large part of the "energy blend" in 5-hour energy. Read the ingredients before using other "energy shots" for this purpose; a high dose of caffeine without Tyrosine or Phenylalanine would only make the comedown worse.
 Extraction of Amphetamine from Adderall/Dexedrine
It took me a good few months of finally finding an extraction process, and I've found one that works, 2 infact! One thats very quick but you lose a bit of amphetamine or a long one were you most likely get it all (haven't tried it.) So, lets begin! There are a few different methods for purifying amphetamine, but one of the simplest and best ways to do this is with a dual solvent re-crystallisation. If you plan to do this however, be prepared for a LARGE reduction in volume. Keep in mind however the stuff you separate out isn't really any good to you anyway. If done extremely carefully you won't lose much of the actual dexamphetamine.
Re-crystallisation is based on the different saturation levels of hot and cold solvent. A saturated solution is one which has the maximum amount of solute dissolved in it. The saturation level of any given solvent rises and falls with the temperature. Put simply, when a solvent is heated it can dissolve a larger volume of solute, and as it cools and the saturation level drops, excess solute will form into crystals and sink to the bottom, so if you're an idiot, the hotter the water the more amphetamine can be dissolved - once it drops in temperature the amphetamine floats to the bottom of the flask.
A simple purification can be done using a single solvent. Add hot solvent to the amphetamine in small amounts until it is all dissolved. Anything that will not dissolve is adulterant and should be filtered out using coffee filters or filter paper (moisten filters first to prevent them soaking up solution). Next, allow the solution to cool slowly to room temperature, then place it in the fridge and allow it to cool further. Once it has cooled in the fridge filter the crystals out and allow them to dry. Thats it! You now have pure amphetamine, stay safe and enjoy.
Good solvents for these processes include methanol, isopropanol and MEK.
