Amphetamine
Amphetamine is the original "speed". It is a stimulant drug.
Many preparations of amphetamines are prescribed for ADD, among them
- Adderall - mixed d/l-amphetamine salts
- Dexedrine - d-amphetamine
- Vyvanse - D-amphetamine, with a lysine molecule attached to make it oral-only XR.
Amphetamine is very common a CNS stimulant which has been used widely for both medical and recreational purposes for decades. Amphetamine's primary method of action is the release of dopamine, norepinephrine, and several other neurotransmitters associated with mood, alertness, cognition and other mental functions. Amphetamine was available over the counter in Benzedrene inhalers for many years, but it was moved to Schedule II in the 70s, making it legal with a prescription. Dexedrine, Adderall, and Vyvanse are the most common pharmaceutical amphetamine preparations today. In areas of the world where amphetamines haven't been co-opted by psychiatry, street amphetamine is usually available in the form of Amphetamine sulfate. From a user's perspective, you can expect euphoria, in increase in energy and desire to do things, a meticulous and thorough sort of concentration, the ability to take unprecedented pleasure in the mundane, greater capacity for abstract thought, and many other things you would expect from the enhanced state amphetamines produce. They also increase heart rate, induce sweating, cause jaw tension and decrease blood flow to the extremities which manifests most visibly in the difficulty achieving and maintaining an erection you'll experience. This can be overcome through sheer persistence some of the time, but ibuprofen may also help. Amphetamine is subject to the 48 Hour Rule, which states that you should not binge for more than 48 hours, and should have a 48 hour recovery period after said binge.
Adderall is probably what the largest portion of readers have experience with, but it is being slowly phased out in favor of Vyvanse. Adderall is available in instant release (IR) tablets and extended release (XR) capsules. It is a combination of dextro and levo amphetamine salts, and the slight difference in the rates of metabolization of the different salts leads to a longer duration than preparations that only contain one form of amphetamine like Dexedrine. It is common practice to crush the beads inside the extended release capsules to bypass the time release. Snorting the resulting powder or crushed IR tablets is also popular, and provides a more intense high because of amphetamine's high internasal bioavailbility, but the binders present in the pills may be harmful to the sensitive tissue of the inner nose.
Vyvanse is a preparation designed to be less abusable. An amino acid is attached to the dextroamphetamine molecule, and it must be metabolized by the digestive system before the metabolization of amphetamine can begin. This is effectively an artifically created prodrug. Vyvanse cannot be insufflated or taken in any way other than orally, because without being processed by the digestive system it remains inactive, and the added weight of the amino acid make the doses higher, but it is still recreationally valuable as long as you can live with oral administration.

[edit] Methods of Administration
The simplest is just taking the pills orally. If you have an extended release preparation this is essentially like splitting the dose so half is released immediately and half kicks in later, maybe 4 or so hours from the time you took it. It's not exactly like as if you had taken half and then redosed later, but it's close and thinking of it like this makes it easier to get an idea of when you can expect to peak and come down.
Parachuting is a route of administration in which a drug in powder form is placed in paper and swallowed, owing to the difficulty of swallowing powder. This is usually done when an extended release (XR) drug is converted to instant release (IR) via the grinding up of the extended release mechanism, usually consisting of small polymer-coated beads. You can grind up the XR beads in a shot glass with the rounded handle of a screwdriver. Although toilet paper is the most common material used, food can also be used to parachute, such as a piece of cheese, a Fruit Roll-up, the original capsule, use your imagination. Parachuting with the original capsule is also a fairly common practice. It has the advantage of being a stable carrying container, which means that you can take it with you on-the-go and not have to worry about it breaking open. You can also do this to carry powder around more efficiently for snorting. Funneling the powder back into the capsule using paper works well. This can also be done by making a line out of the powder and dragging the open capsule on the surface to collect the powder. It will expand when you crush it, because the powder is less dense than the beads. One third of the beads crushed took up about half of the capsule. You can tap the capsule with your fingernail to get the powder to settle a bit.
Insufflation, or snorting the powder of crushed pills is another popular way to consume amphetamines. As previously mentioned, the binders and other inactives present in the pills are not intended to be placed in the nose, so they may be harmful. Snorting anything can lead to a whole host of undesirable effects, foremost among them being the discomfort of having powder clogging up your nose. However, because insufflation is a more direct route of administration, the effects are more intense and euphoric, and the onset is much quicker with a shorter overall duration, which may be desirable. The comedown is proportionally harsher but shorter. Effectively, a snorted dose is equal to higher oral dose that wears off faster in both physiological effects and the experience itself, which should be readily apparent when you consider how much you have to snort to reach the point where you're very obviously under the influence of stimulants to anyone observing you, compared to how much you'd have to take orally to get to the same point.
Other routes are possible but less common, mostly because the inactive contents of the pills does not lend itself to rectal or intravenous administration. In both cases filtering is necessary for safety, and even if you're one of the cool kids who just doesn't give a fuck you'd be served by researching further before you try anything like this. However, because of the extremely direct nature of both these routes, the euphoria would probably be unmatched. The addiction potential and neurotoxicity would also be unmatched though, so tread carefully.
[edit] Getting a prescription
If you buy it regularly you are either a pussy or just unaware that getting a script is really easy. Getting an Adderall script is most often consuming the /stim/ board, so here is how you can get one. Use one or a combination of the following methods when talking to a psych/md:
- Say you used to be on stimulant medication like ritalin as a child and want to start taking it again.
- Complain that your inability to remain focused is impacting your daily activities such as work, school, studying, homework, driving, etc.
- Say that you have been on it for awhile and it works great but your old doctor either moved or is too booked up to see you.
- If you are underage B&, have a parent come in with you. It's really easy for parents to believe you need medication if you say you are struggling focusing in school. No parent wants their kid to struggle. A doctor will prescribe anything if you have a middle aged, concerned parent who doesn't look like a junkie. Don't look like a fucking rebel / a "bad kid", but don't come in a suit. This can also work if you are going to college, it might be a little weirder, but the studies are now showing that ADHD can be noticed at any age, especially in college where the work actually requires studying / reading. It is realistic that you would bring a parent with you, because something like a focus medicine is "scary" to you and you want their approval of the side effects.
- Or say whatever you want / can come up with, have a ball. Portray yourself as having little knowledge about drugs, and never mention anything by name. You do not want to be tagged as drug seeking, and a lot of doctors have no tolerance whatsoever for scum of the earth drug users like you and me. This is just the initial approach you should take though, there are doctors out there with much more relaxed viewpoints who'll laugh and say "you want a bigger hit of speed, huh" as they write the script for the dose increase you asked for. Just use common sense and act like a total "square", for lack of a better term.
[edit] Modified Method
- This is for after he diagnoses you with ADHD.
- He will probably recommend a non stimulant such as Straterra, Intuniv, or Kapvay ask with any of the medications if you have to take them every day(for those 3 shit ones you do.)
- When he says yes, retort that you don't want to be under the influence 24/7, and either say because when I took so and so as a kid it made me like a zombie, or just say you don't want to be changed 24/7 by the drug.
- At this point he'll most likely recommend a weak stimulant such as Concerta, Ritalin, and maybe Vyvanse, if he gives you Vyvanse then you're great! Adderall, Dexedrine, and Desoxyn are also excellent, but the last one is dexmethamphetamine and so isn't usually prescribed.
- If you're not content with your script and want a more abusable one, look up the negative side effects of said script and complain of them, such as headaches. And so you'll get switched.
Also GREAT TIP most doctors think Vyvanse is unabusable since it cant be snorted, so they'll easily prescribe it. Good luck!
[edit] Dosage
| Low | 10-30mg |
| Medium | 30-60mg |
| High | 60mg+ |
[edit] Vyvanse Dose
Vyvanse is a prodrug, therefore the only ROA that will work is oral. It is also less potent by weight because of the added amino acid.
| Low | 30mg-60mg |
| Medium | 60mg-120mg |
| High | 120mg+ |
[edit] Adverse/Beneficial Supplement Interactions
Adverse Supplement Interactions
- Calcium Carbonate (IE: Tums)- Antacids like this reduce the acidity in the stomach, which will increase the duration and possibly intensity of the dose. Users have reported unpleasant side effects like headaches and nausea, especially with sustained use, so use caution. Some have also reported that it delays the onset, but nothing can be substantiated and your mileage may vary.
- Ascorbic Acid / Vitamin C
- This is in probably 95% of Vitamin C supplements as well as many of the acidic fruits (IE: Oranges have a very high concentration). Consistent high amounts of ascorbic acid will cause acidification of the amphetamines inside of your stomach, and you will develop a dull, constant, but potent stomach ache - with sharp pain when more ascorbic acid is consumed. If you feel this happening, check your stools for any signs of blood, I know this is gross but it is the best way to see if your stomach ache is caused by amphetamine acidification. Just check out the toilet paper as you wipe for light red smudges of blood (it will be in small amounts), and glace at your stools in the toilet as well if you can spot red spots/strips/sections on the stools themselves. Keep in mind Vitamin C may have beneficial interactions as well, but best used in non-acidic form, more info below in the "Beneficial" section.
- Note: This is the time when people sometimes take calcium carbonate to reduce the acid in the stomach - only do this if you are not currently taking the mixed amphetamines though, as noted above. Mainly avoid HIGH concentration of acids - like ascorbic-acid based C supplements and lots of Oranges, and you should not experience any of the negative interactions.
- Milk
- Milk is
basicslightly acidic, so it may reduce the acidity of the stomach like antacids but to a lesser extent, and the potential for both increased duration and the less desirable delay of onset exists. Milk contains proteins which facilitate the excretion of acids into your stomach later on. For instant release amphetamines this may not be a problem, but for those taking extended release amphetamines, this can be a factor when the second wave starts to dissolve. Milk also contains nutrition you're probably lacking if you've been taking amphetamines, so you might want to drink some anyway; it's easier than eating.
- Vitamin C (Non-ascorbic Acid Form)
- Vitamin C has a long history of being recommended as a supplement for users of various drugs, but nothing conclusive on its effects has ever been shown. However it is an anti-oxidant which will reduce the neurotoxicity of the amphetamine.
- The forms to take to avoid acidification are called "mineral ascorbates" of the various minerals. Mineral salts of ascorbic acid (mineral ascorbates) are buffered and therefore much less acidic. The forms can include Calcium ascorbate, Potassium ascorbate, Magnesium ascorbate (try to make sure the supplement doesn't have more than about 100mg of base "magnesium" if it includes this ascorbate, that is IF you are also taking magnesium oxide to stem off amphetamine tolerance as well - too much magnesium in a day can make you very sick/bad diarrhea), Zinc ascorbate, Molybdenum ascorbate, Chromium ascorbate, Manganese ascorbate. Just search online or at GNC or something a "ascorbate C" (an example name). It will clearly state that it is in non-ascorbic acid form.
- Magnesium Oxide
- Magnesium can help prevent amphetamine tolerance from rising and may help lower it during a tolerance break, but should not be taken in excess of 500mg or with Vitamin C supplements. Magnesium also has been said to help with jaw tension and other side effects.
- Various Antioxidants
- Antioxidants will help reduce the neurotoxicity of amphetamines. Keep in mind that little damage is done with normal dosages of amphetamines, and what is done is probably comparable to alcohol in terms of severity. That is, basically negligable except in massive doses and/or a lifetime of use. In any event, vitamin supplements are not expensive and they're not going to hurt you. These supplements may be beneficial:
- -Vitamin C
- -Vitamin E
- -Alpha Liopic Acid
- -Resveratrol
- -Lycopene
